Cirava
About the site
The watermill of Cirava Manor is an architectural monument under the state’s protection. In 2002, the watermill was included among the 100 greatest industrial heritage monuments in Latvia and represented the Latvian cultural heritage at the events organized for the European Heritage Days. Cirava watermill was build in 1882 and still stands strong today.
We identified this site as a potential project in 2020 and began negotiations with the current owner of the site to develop it in to a small hydro-electric power plant. In 2022 our goals were completed and Cirava hydro plant now produces 120,000 KWh per year. In 2023, we plan to install an additional 30,000 KWh of solar panels on the site, raising the total production output to 150,000 KWh.
Further plans are being discussed to install and electrolyser on the site to produce green hydrogen.
In the summer, the temperature is between 4-5C . And in winter around 0C. Despite the cold temperatures, we will still maintain water flow
The Mill has 4 levels in total with wooden floors in between. Renovation of the mill is ongoing and will be completed some time in 2023.
Total space available is 230m2. There is also outside space that we aim to use to install solar panels to increase total output capacity.
